Malaria is one of the leading causes of morbidity and mortality in the world. Mosquitoes act as vectors malaria not only for malaria but also for other life threatening diseases like yellow fever, dengue fever, chikungunya ferver, filariasis, encephalitis, and West Nile Virus infection. Under the Integrated Mosquito Management (IMM), emphasis is given on the application of alternative strategies in mosquito control. Bioactive agents from plant extracts provide an alternative mosquito control strategy available from ancient times, offering a potential source of cost effective mosquito repellent and insecticide products that can be utilized in malarial endemic areas.
